Today we had the pleasure of having Fr. Gamarra deliver our service. His positive energy was well received and he even tested our knowledge of previous sermons, which we failed horribly. He tied the past three sermons very well and had the congregation laughing and on their toes in case we were called upon. Fr. Gamarra joined us for brunch and conversation after the service.
Rev. Dina will be on vacation for the next three Sundays. We wish her the best during this time. During her absence, please contact Pat Powell for any pastoral emergency, 310-324-1617. We will also be fortunate to have Fr. Butch Gamarra on August 4th, Fr. Norm Ishizaki on August 11th, and Rev. Barbara Stewart on August 18th.
Join the Diocese of Los Angeles and St. George's at its annual Episcopal Night at Dodger Stadium on Friday, August 30 vs. the San Diego Padres at 7p.m. Game tickets are available in the church office for $15 per ticket, which includes a firework show at the end of the game. If you need a carpool, please let Vicar Dina know. St. George's Church has an active Food Pantry Program for Homeless and Low Income families in the community. Every year St. George support other groups in the community, like the Homeless program of the Baptist Church of Ocean Gate, The Low Income families of the Methodist Church and the Teen Challenge program. This Outreach program is possible by individual and family donations plus an annual donation from South Torrance High School. We are committed to help to accomplish one of the Millennium Development Goals: the Hungry. For I was hungry, and you fed me. Matthew 25:35 |
