On Pentecost, May 19, Paul Phillips from Hope Positive Africa, gave a wonderful presentation to the congregation on this extraordinary program in Uganda for destitute women with HIV and their children. Did you know that there is 80% unemployment in Uganda and that the average yearly income is $345? We are honored to provide support for these women and children, whom we have come to know by name through their Facebook posts. To support them please go to HopePositiveAfrica.org and press Donate. Thanks!

On Pentecost Sunday, May 19, we received a visit from Violeta de la Cruz, our long-time member, fabulous cook, talented woman (her weavings are at the Getty) and businesswoman. Violeta has recently moved back to Guatemala. Naturally, we had to celebrate, though we thought of kidnapping her and keeping her here! Buena suerte y bendiciones, Violeta!

Baked goods included two large cookies which were raffled off during our coffee hour. The donation included an all you can eat home made feast. The youth group made home made pizza, cookies and rice crispy treats. We would like to thank The Reverend Norm Ishizaki for guiding us over the last month during this time of transition at St. George's. His welcoming smile and knowledge gave us the courage to "repent" and look forward to the "WOW" in our community. We wish him well and hope to see him again soon.
Please bring your favorite treats to sale and don't forget your money so that you can support St. George's Church. Bake sale will be in the parish hall at the conclusion of our service. Prayer in the time of transition: Almighty God, giver of every good gift; Look graciously on St. George's and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a Vicar for us that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
During our time of transition at St. George's we welcome The Reverend Norm Ishizaki, who comes with 35 years experience, most at St. Albans in Westwood, and most recently at Christ Episcopal Church in Redondo Beach. We are very fortunate to have The Reverend Norm with us to guide us during these times. Today was Rev. Dina's last service at St. Georges. We will celebrate her last services with us with a nice lunch during our coffee chat. Please join us in the Parish Hall. We will Rev. Dina all the best in her new journey as ask that you keep St. George's in your prayers during our time of transition.
Questions during this time of transition should be directed to Pat Powell, Violeta de la Cruz, or any other member of the Bishop's Committee. Gamarra deliver our service. His positive energy was well received and he even tested our knowledge of previous sermons, which we failed horribly. He tied the past three sermons very well and had the congregation laughing and on their toes in case we were called upon. Fr. Gamarra joined us for brunch and conversation after the service.
